About the event
Be on your own side...be your own best friend!
Regardless of age, we all experience stress in our daily lives. Whether it’s managing school or work responsibilities, busy schedules or dealing with the challenges of modern living, we can all feel overwhelmed at moments. Many of us are also our own worst critics. When the going gets tough, we may find ourselves listening to internal voices that are harsh and critical towards ourselves (our inner “mean girl”).
What would it be like to be our own best friend...to learn to meet every moment with an attitude of kindness and friendliness? Mindfulness practices can help us learn to befriend ourselves during stressful and difficult experiences, quiet our inner critic and accept ourselves just as we are.
This workshop will provide parents and teens with an introduction to mindfulness and a handful of accessible practices that can be woven into daily life as a means to live more in the present moment and provide ourselves with sources of support when life becomes challenging.
